International music icon Paulina Rubio is one of latin music's top-selling female artists with over 19 million records sold worldwide. Paulina, dubbed "La Chica Dorada" (The Golden Girl), took the globe by storm yet again with the release of her ninth album, Gran City Pop, released June 23rd, 2009.
Raised in Mexico, Los Angeles, and Spain, she began her wildly successful career at the young age of 10 with the Mexican girl group "Timbiriche", and thereafter decided to go her own way.
Paulina’s eponymous solo album shifted over 3 million records worldwide and garnered her a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Artist in addition to three Latin Grammy nominations, as well as a Billboard award for Best Latin Album and two Premio Lo Nuestro awards for Best Pop Album and Best Female Pop Star. With this record, Paulina’s remarkable sales yielded: Triple Platinum and Diamond sales in Columbia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Spain and Italy.
Her album Pau-Latina took her to the next level, as she became the highest selling female Latin artist of 2004. That year, Paulina won Billboard, Premios Juventud and Premio Lo Nuestro awards and was the only Latina nominated at the 47th Grammy Awards. The following year, Paulina became the first female host at the MTV Latin America Video Awards and was also invited to perform at the Nobel Award Ceremony in 2006.
Paulina then released the most successful album to date of her career, Ananda, which entered the Billboard 200 chart at #31. The single "Ni Una So/a Palabra" also found a home on the charts and won a Latin Billboard Award.
Gran City Pop debuted at n°1 in usa, puerto rico & mexico and at n°2 in spain. it's been at the top of sales lists, and achieved multiplatinum awards worldwide. it's first single, "Causa y Efecto", topped radio charts for 3 months across the USA, Mexico, Spain & Latin America. "Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes", the second single, is hitting radio now with 2 stellar remixes with Pitbull & Jenni Rivera to follow.
In parallel, Paulina is launching "ORO," her first fragrance, in collaboration with Oracle Beauty Brands.
As a composer, Paulina's publishing company P. Blonde Music recently signed a major worldwide administration agreement with Sony ATV.
This artist is also a true activist on issues affecting women and children, most recently participating in events to benefit "Padres contra el Cancer", "Spitituality for Kids", "The American Heart Association Go Red" campaign and "ALAS". She is also the 20092010 face of the US Department of Health's HIV Prevention Campaign and the LifeBeat Organization provides informational services at all of Paulina's US Gran City Pop Tour concert dates. Finally Paulina was recently named Tourist Ambassador for the Mayan Riviera, State of Quintana Roo, Mexico.
"Gran City Pop" is Paulina's ninth solo studio album and was released worldwide on June 23, 2009 via Universal Music, who recently announced a major record release deal with PauIina.
The album's first single is the phenomenal radio hit, "Causa y Efecto" written for Paulina by Mario Domm from the Mexican band Camila and Monica Velez.
Paulina's collaborators on the album include both GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY Award winners, such as Cachorro Lopez, Lester Mendez, Estefano, Mario Domm, Andres Levin & Coti.
Paulina began "Gran City Pop" in her Miami home studio in 2008 as a follow-up to the chart-topping "Ananda", released in 2006, also on Universal Music.
Paulina performs October 15th on the MTV LA Awards, from Los Angeles, where she has 5 nominations.
Other events included headlining the Univision Corporate Radio show in NewYork, filming of specials for MTV Latin, Walmart Soundcheck and opened the Billboard Latin Awards show, with highest ratings in the program's history. Paulina also headlined "Premio Lo Nuestro" and prime-time programming across the region.
"Gran City Pop" enjoyed a sale debut of #1 on several charts all over the world.
